THE EDGE: HEED SPORT DRINKS

Sustained energy, no tooth decay

When Hammer Nutrition introduced HEED more than a decade ago, we essentially re-invented the sports drink. Unlike dozens of other sports drinks, which are filled with unhealthy ingredients, HEED is made purely with premium, natural ingredients and precisely formulated to help you achieve peak athletic performance without compromising your health.

HEED's subtle-tasting, complex carbohydrate formula goes down easily and supplies you with consistent, long-lasting energy and the electrolytes you need to keep pushing the pace:

- Provides steady energy

- Helps prevent cramping

- Premium, natural ingredients

Here's why HEED remains unique among sports drinks:

1) No added sugars - HEED is made with the complex carbohydrate maltodextrin, so you can count on it for steady, long-lasting energy - not the flash-and-crash energy of sugarysweet fuels made with fructose, sucrose, dextrose, and/or glucose.

2) No citric acid - Many sports drinks include citric acid, which can damage teeth and burn mouth, throat, and stomach linings. Not HEED!

3) Full spectrum of electrolytes - While most other sports drinks are loaded with salt, HEED contains a full spectrum of minerals to more completely replenish electrolytes without the health dangers of excess sodium.

What you put into your body determines the quality of energy you'll get in return. State-of-the-art HEED delivers quality long-lasting energy and helps you stay healthy. Try HEED today and discover the difference for yourself!

ATHLETES AND TOOTH DECAY

Sugary sports drinks blamed for Olympians' poor oral health

Olympic athletes are presumably among the world's healthiest people. Yet according to a University College London survey, most of them fall short when it comes to oral health. Conducted during the 2012 Olympics, the survey found that 55% had evidence of cavities, 45% had tooth erosion, and 76% had gum disease.

"Tooth decay is always caused by sugar," commented Dr. Anne Twomey, president of the Irish Dental Association. "Sports drinks, protein shakes, energy drinks, energy bars, and fruit juices can contain from 5 to a dozen teaspoons of sugar ... Our advice is clear. Study the ingredients [of sports drinks] carefully and opt for those not containing sugar."

HEED: the healthier sports drink

HEED contains no added simple sugars and only 2 grams (less than half a teaspoon) of naturally occurring sugar per serving. Instead, HEED contains the plant-derived sweetener xylitol, which benefits oral health.
